Feature Request: Include ACME DNS modules (e.g. Cloudflare) in official Windows pre-built binaries #2731
Currently, using DNS-01 ACME challenges (such as github.com/caddy-dns/cloudflare for Let's Encrypt / ZeroSSL wildcard certificates or setups behind Cloudflare Proxy) with FrankenPHP requires building a custom binary with xcaddy.
While this is straightforward on Linux using multi-stage Docker builds, creating a custom build for Windows is significantly more complex due to CGO dependencies, MSVC/GCC cross-compilation environments, and PHP DLL linking requirements.
It would be extremely helpful to have official pre-built Windows binaries (frankenphp.exe) that natively include popular Caddy DNS provider modules (or at least github.com/caddy-dns/cloudflare).
Use Case
Windows Native Deployments / Development: Running FrankenPHP directly on Windows servers or local environments without forcing a Docker/WSL2 layer.
Wildcard TLS Certificates on Windows: Obtaining *.domain.com certificates requires the DNS-01 challenge, which is impossible natively on Windows without rebuilding Caddy/FrankenPHP.
Environments Behind Cloudflare Proxy / Internal Networks: Obtaining certificates when HTTP-01 challenges (port 80/443) are restricted or routed through Cloudflare.
Proposed Solution
Option A (Default Binaries): Embed github.com/caddy-dns/cloudflare (and potentially other common providers like Route53, DigitalOcean, Hetzner) directly into the official GitHub Release assets for Windows.
Option B (Separate Windows Asset): Provide a dedicated release binary asset (e.g., frankenphp-windows-x86_64-cloudflare.exe or frankenphp-windows-x86_64-with-dns.exe).
Since cross-compiling or building custom CGO/Go binaries on Windows is a major pain point for developers compared to Linux, providing pre-built Windows executables with DNS support would greatly improve the DX on Windows.
