Summary

  • derive the documentation release channel from packages/components/package.json using the existing publish-version validation logic
  • append @alpha, @beta, or @rc to TinyRobot install commands during Markdown rendering
  • keep stable releases, unrelated dependencies, source imports, and non-install shell commands unchanged
  • set all public packages to 1.0.0-alpha.0 so the alpha documentation deployment can be inspected without creating a Git tag
  • add regression coverage to the release-script test suite

Testing

  • node scripts/verify-publish-versions.js --expected-version 1.0.0-alpha.0 --dist-tag alpha
  • pnpm test:release-scripts (25/25 passed)
  • VITEPRESS_BASE=/tiny-robot/alpha/ PLAYGROUND_BASE=/tiny-robot/alpha/playground pnpm -F docs build
  • verified generated HTML contains @alpha for the TinyRobot packages and CLI command
  • Prettier and ESLint checks passed

Notes

No Git tag was created. A full local pnpm test run reported existing Sender E2E failures outside this change's scope; this PR does not modify those Sender implementation or test files, so the PR CI result remains the integration signal.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Installation commands in shell examples now reflect the appropriate release tag for the documented package version.
    • Stable-release commands and unrelated package commands remain unchanged; source-code examples are not modified.
    • Supported command formats include pnpm add, yarn add, npm install/npm i, and npx.

Walkthrough

VitePress now tags matching Tiny Robot install commands in shell code fences with a distribution tag derived from the components package version. Tests cover tag selection, command matching, and Markdown rendering.

Documentation install tags

Layer / File(s) Summary
Resolve and apply install tags
docs/.vitepress/plugins/install-tag.mjs, scripts/docs-install-tag.test.js, package.json
The plugin resolves package-version tags and rewrites matching Tiny Robot install commands in supported shell fences. Tests cover package managers, stable and prerelease versions, unrelated commands, and Markdown rendering. The release-scripts test command now runs these tests.
Connect package version to VitePress
docs/.vitepress/config.mts
The VitePress configuration reads the components package version and registers the plugin with its resolved distribution tag.

Prerelease docs can run the stable CLI through pnpm, and some compound commands may be rewritten incorrectly. Workarounds are available, but these cases should be corrected.

Preserve shell separators after explicit versions.

If a fence contains pnpm add @opentiny/tiny-robot@beta; echo ready, the version suffix matches the semicolon. Line 18 then discards it, producing pnpm add @opentiny/tiny-robot@alpha echo ready. The copied command no longer separates the install from echo. End the package specification before shell operators, and preserve the operator in the output. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Stop rewriting at the end of an install command.

If a shell fence contains pnpm add vite && npm ls @opentiny/tiny-robot, this pattern passes both commands to the package replacer. The plugin changes the npm ls argument to @opentiny/tiny-robot@alpha, although npm ls is not an install command. Limit matching to install-command arguments, and leave subsequent commands and comments unchanged. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Include pnpm dlx in the install-command pattern.

The pnpm documentation fence contains pnpm dlx @opentiny/tiny-robot-cli, but INSTALL_COMMAND_PATTERN recognizes only npx for direct CLI execution. During a prerelease documentation build, the pnpm example can remain untagged and resolve the stable latest CLI instead of the selected prerelease CLI.
