[Engine] Windows problems after update from 0.2.2 to 0.2.3 #3958

Description

@JuliusH93

Hello,

I was on V 0.2.2 and had running qwen 3-Next-Flash fine so far.

Now I saw that there were updates available, so I tried to install them.

First I tried the update from 0.2.2 to 0.2.3 directly in die app. Now the engine keeps failing with this message:

"The native engine did not respont in time. Check engine logs"

It seems to run a short time, then the engine fails again. I even tried to deinstall strata completely with all appdata and do a clean install but it keeps happening with the newest 0.2.4 release.

Installed version now (clean install):
Strata 0.2.3
Engine 0.1.48

System:
[host] hardware · NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER / cuda / 8 cores / 63 GB

Thanks for the issue. To keep the tracker readable, every item needs an area prefix in the title and the parts of the issue form filled in. This one is missing:

    • Start the title with its area: [Engine], [GUI], [TUI], [Benchmark], [Docs] or [Other], then a short description. Example: "[Engine] decode stops after 2 minutes".
    • Add your graphics card with its VRAM, your RAM and your operating system.

Edit the issue (title and description) and this note goes away on its own. If it is still missing parts in 5 days it will be closed, which is not a rejection: fix it and comment /reopen.

    Details: CONTRIBUTING.md

I use the terminal version (on Windows 11 with RTX 5090 laptop) and found this update appears to have broken the loading of the mmproj vision file. When I removed vision from the profile, my previously working IQ3_S profile started working again.

I cannot reproduce this in the App-Version. Just tested with an image, and the agent/model could read it normally.

One thing I am noticing is that when I start strata, the app first shows Engine-Version 0.1.0 and the error messages described above. Then after like a minute it shows Engine 0.1.48 and then it seems to run normally.

Could it be that with my update-attemps I somehow managed to install multiple engines on my pc?

The performance also seems to be much worse than with the app version 0.2.0. Before the System-RAM was pretty much maxed out but I got around 30-50 t/s. Now with 02.3. the GPU does not seem to be working that much and I get like 5-10 t/s.

I tried to update to 0.2.5 with Engine 0.1.50 now, but the windows app just shows 0.1.48 as up-to-date.

    Image

Edit: I have now installed Engine 0.1.50 manually without luck. Even the prompt reading now takes ages, and the generation itself also. The CPU ist at 100% all the time, GPU at around 15%.

Is this normal? What is going on here?

Any help would be cool, I was super happy with the setup a few days ago but now it is not working anymore, even with the old version 0.2.2/Engine 0.1.48
